The Universe is Always Listening (So Be Careful What You Wish For)

Remember that blog I wrote about having Christmas on my terms? About wanting a peaceful, quiet holiday for once? Yeah. The Universe delivered, just not in the way I expected.

My husband and I got sick. Like, properly sick. The kind of sick where you cancel everything, stay in bed, and barely have the energy to move. So did we have a peaceful, quiet Christmas? Absolutely. Was it the Christmas I envisioned? Not even close.

But it was a great reminder for me and one I wanted to share with you. The Universe is always listening. And sometimes, it takes things a little too literally.

I asked for peace and quiet. I got it—just with a side of chest congestion, hot flashes, chills, and zero energy to enjoy it.

So as we step into 2026, here’s my reminder to you (and to myself): Be specific about what you’re asking for. Dream big. Put it out there. And when the Universe delivers, even if it’s not exactly how you pictured it, be ready to accept it.

What I Really Wanted (vs. What I Got)

What I thought I wanted: A calm, low-stress Christmas with the people I love. Good food and good company. Even some time to actually breathe and enjoy the day.

What I actually got: A completely quiet house. No running around. No stress. Just my husband, me, the couch, and a lot of sleep.

Did I get the peace and quiet I asked for? Yes. Was it on my terms? Kind of. Did the Universe take it a step too far? Absolutely.

But you know what? I’m not mad about it. Because even though it wasn’t the Christmas I planned, it was still exactly what I needed in some weird, cosmic way. A full stop on life and a forced reset. I was reminded that sometimes, rest isn’t optional—it’s required.

The Universe Hears You (So Choose Your Words Carefully)

Here’s the thing about putting your intentions, goals, and dreams out there: the Universe is always listening.

But it doesn’t always deliver in the way you expect. Sometimes it gives you exactly what you asked for with a plot twist. Other times, it gives you what you need instead of what you want. And occasionally, it goes a little overboard just to make sure you get the message.

As you step into this new year, think about what you’re really asking for. Get specific. Get clear. And be ready to receive it—even if it shows up differently than you imagined. Because 2026 is yours for the taking, but you have to tell the Universe what you want first.

3 Ways to Put Your Dreams Out Into the Universe (And Actually Achieve Them)

If you’re ready to make 2026 the year things actually happen, here’s how to start.

1. Get Crystal Clear About What You Actually Want

Vague dreams get vague results. “I want to be successful” doesn’t tell the Universe (or you) anything useful.

But “I want to hit $100K in revenue by building systems that let me work fewer hours and spend more time with my family”? That’s specific, clear, and something you can work with.

How to do this:

  • Write down your goals. Not just “lose weight” or “grow my business.” Use numbers to get specific about what success actually looks like.
  • Ask yourself: What do I want? Why do I want it? How will I know when I’ve achieved it?
  • Use the “Your Dreamer Year Workbook” (yes, shameless plug, but it actually works) to map out your vision for the year.

The clearer you are, the easier it is to manifest. And the more likely the Universe is going to listen and deliver.

2. Visualize It Like It’s Already Happened

This isn’t woo-woo nonsense. This is how your brain works.

When you visualize your goals as if they’ve already happened, your brain starts looking for ways to make them real. You notice opportunities you would’ve missed. Make decisions that align with your vision. And start acting like the person who’s already achieved the thing.

How to do this:

  • Spend 5 minutes every morning picturing your life after you’ve achieved your goal. What does it look like? How does it feel? What are you doing differently?
  • Create a vision board (and actually look at it—don’t just make it and forget about it).
  • Write about your future self. Journal as if you’re already living the life you want. What does a typical day look like? How do you feel?

The more real it feels in your mind, the more your actions will align with making it real in your life.

3. Take Action (Even When It’s Scary)

Here’s the part people forget: The Universe can always be listening, but you still have to do the work.

You can’t just sit around waiting for your dreams to magically appear. You have to take steps (even small ones) toward what you want.

How to do this:

  • Break your big goal into smaller, actionable steps. What’s one thing you can do this week to move closer?
  • Say yes to opportunities that align with your vision (even if they scare you).
  • Be open to receiving. Sometimes the Universe delivers in unexpected ways. Don’t dismiss it just because it doesn’t look how you thought it would.

Dreams don’t manifest through wishful thinking alone. They manifest when you pair intention with action.

What Are You Calling In for 2026?

So here’s my question for you: What do you want this year?

Not what you think you should want or what everyone else expects. What do you actually want?

More mindfulness? Added revenue? Quality time with the people you love? A business that runs without you working 24/7? A life that actually feels like yours?

Whatever it is—say it out loud. Write it down. Drop a comment on this blog. Put it out into the Universe.

And then get ready to receive it. Even if it shows up with a plot twist. Because the Universe is always listening. And 2026 is wide open. Let’s make it count.
