Own Your Weird

I’m a self-proclaimed weirdo. So when I saw “Own your weird”, I kind of know what I’m talking about. If you’ve started reading this, you’re probably thinking two things:

1. She’s not weird! She looks like she totally has her stuff together!
2. I get it. I’m just like her.

So tell me, which one were you thinking? If it’s the first, I’m going to fill you in. And trust me, I do not have all my stuff together. The second tells me you’re like me and I’m glad you’re here. Friend, you are not alone.

If you’ve know me in real life, or follow me on IG, you see me post about a lot of good things. I like to share positive things because it helps me feel better. Sharing something positive also helps provide value to the world so it can ultimately help someone else. Plus, if I kept all my bright ideas inside this tiny little head, it might explode. I’ve gotta get them out! And yes, sometimes those ideas are off the beaten path but I own my weird and share them anyway. But what you don’t see may be more important.

You don’t see pictures of my house in the messy state that it is. I don’t show how long my days can be or what I look like in the morning (because no one wants to see that). While I might look like I have all my stuff together, I promise you, I don’t. I think the phrase is “hot mess”. 🤣

If that phrase sticks out for you, let’s be friends! My bed isn’t made, I have dirty dishes in the sink, and sometimes I skip an event because I don’t feel like going. People like me want things that others don’t want and are usually working really hard to get them. So I say stay the course, follow your dreams, and own your weird.

If you’ve read this far, you’re probably wondering why I’m telling you all of this. Well, first and foremost, I always want to be real and authentic. The older I get, the more I realize it’s ok to be different and weird. As the Black Sheep of the family, I know I want a life that’s different from the rest of my family. I want freedom and to travel more. And because of my dreams, I’ve lost friends and family along the way. But guess what, that’s ok! I know my lifers have my back and because of that, we’ve locked arms and said “We’re in this together!”

So if you’re feeling like the Black Sheep in your family, don’t worry. You’re not alone. There are tons of people out the that will understand you, including me. Let’s all own our weird and live an amazing hot mess life together. If you’ve got a hot mess moment, share it and be proud of it!
