Celebrate Your Life: 7 Ways to Love the Life You Live

UPDATED 03/17/2025

Do you celebrate your life? Bet you don’t! I definitely don’t and it’s why I wanted to write this post. Each year, millions of people set goals but most never complete them. They mess up once and decide to give up. Maybe because they lose motivation or maybe because they don’t have an accountability partner. I tend to think it’s because they take on too much at one time. Instead of giving up next year, or whenever you set goals next, I want you to look at goal setting differently.

Time to Celebrate Your Life

When we set goals, we don’t usually just set one. Typically one to three is the magic number and we think that we can accomplish all of them at the same time, if we work on them at the same time. And we make them about what we want to get rid of! Both of these mindsets are wrong and I’ll tell you why.

When we have too many goals in mind, we spread ourselves too thin. And when the focus is on what we want to remove from our life…

  • “Lose 15lbs because I’m fat!”
  • Stop spending money because I need to get out of debt.”

That’s all we focus on. The lack of is what we think about and keeps us in a negative mindset. Instead, flip it so the goal is more positive.

  • I want to lose 15lbs because I want to be able to move my body easier.”
  • “Getting out of debt by reducing my spending is going to increase my freedom.”

That’s why I want your next goal to be to celebrate your life. It brings about positivity in a way that you probably never thought was possible before. I started focusing on taking care of myself more and celebrating what I did have rather than what I didn’t. And that’s when things started to change! Here are the seven things I did to make big changes. Choose one to start with and make this your year!

Celebrate Your Life with Just Because Flowers

Flowers tend to make people smile. They are seen as a symbol of love, happiness, and gratefulness. So if they’re so wonderful, why do we wait for someone else to buy them for us? Go pick out your own flowers and buy yourself a bunch. Just because! You’ll give yourself a smile every time you see them.

Love Yourself in the Skin (and Clothes) You Wear

We tend to bring ourselves down by saying negative things each time we look in the mirror. Our butt is too big, our waist isn’t small enough, our skin is breaking out… You know the drill. Instead of using that negative self-talk, show yourself some love by showing off your style and feeling good about it.

Travel to Your Favorite Destination More

Is there a place you love that just makes you feel complete? For me, it’s Cape Cod. For you, it might be a beach you love, a mountain you hike, or a city that lights you up. It doesn’t have to be far, but wherever it is, go there more. It’s special to you for a reason.

Give Back to Your Community

When we volunteer, we feel good, right? It’s because we’re using our talents and skills to help someone else. So choose a local group to support. It will warm your heart, boost your happiness (and someone else’s) and remind you that your gifts are needed.

Celebrate Your Life with Friends

Take a second and look at your life. Ok, now think of the 3-5 people that are closest to you in terms of emotion, spirituality, love, support, and commonalities. These people are your tribe! They are the ones to spend the most time with because of the value exchange that happens when you’re with them.

Cross Off a Bucket List Item this Year

Every year, I do some vision casting. I paste pictures, quotes, and graphics in a book symbolize my goals, dreams, and bucket list items. This year, pick one bucket list item and make it happen. It could be traveling to Bali, buying a boat, or starting a podcast. Reverse engineer it and make it happen.

Get Professional Photos Taken

Believe it or not, this is my favorite from this list. Getting photos taken was something I thought other people did but I realize that it’s something we all can do. They can be photos of your family, friends, or just you. The images you get will act as artwork and remind you about moments in time you love. And yes, lists really are my love language.

You now have seven ways to celebrate your life. This is my list and where I started. I’m sure you can come up with many more but if you’re feeling stuck, start here. Choose one method and make it happen. Don’t worry about the end result, just go add some positivity into the world and love the life you’re living.
