I was asked this question today and wondered if other people are curious what it is too. When I think about a coach, I think about the practitioners in the world that help others with health and wellness goals. The truth is, a coach can be so much more than just a personal trainer or a nutritionist.
A coach really is the guidance that helps you while you’re on your journey. This person can be your support system, a friend, an ally, a confidant. A coach helps you navigate the murky waters of the world, learn along the way and take real action in your life.
In many cases, coaches are different from personal trainers, nutritionists, clinicians, therapists and educators.
- You may have a personal trainer, nutritionist or therapist, but do you have access to them in between sessions? Not always. With a coach, you always be able to send an email or text! Communication is key to helping the you grow inside and out.
- A physician or an educator can give you all the information in the world and tell you how this information will help you be healthy, but they may not help you take action. A coach helps you set goals and tasks in order to accomplish those goals.
Don’t get me wrong, a coach does not replace a physician, personal trainer, nutritionist or therapist, but they can supplement the care received.
There are endless opportunities to start a journey toward a happy, healthy life, but where do you start? This is where a coach can come in and help guide you. A coach can help you set your goals and choose which ones to work on first. And they can keep you accountable.
I became a Certified Health & Wellness Coach because I want to help others like you learn how to live the happy, healthy life you deserve.
