Vacation Mode: 3 Tips to Get Out Quickly
Ok you so you’re just getting back from vacation and you want to get out of vacation mode. I’ve got you! Here are my best tips to get back to normal.
1. On the last night of vacation, go to bed on time.
When I say “go to bed on time”, I am referencing the time you normally go to bed when you’re home. If you’re used to shutting the lights off at 9:00 PM, do so. But if 11:30 PM is normally when you hit the sack, that’s when you’ll hit the pillow. Yes, it’s your last day of vacation, but do you really need to stay out until 2:00 AM and miss your flight? I think not! Listen to your body to find out what time is right and stick to it.
2. Make sure you take a day off after you get home.
This one of my must-do rules. I always avoid working the day after a vacation because I’m still in vacation mode. I need time to recoup and get things in order – the laundry, shopping for food, etc. It helps me ease back into my normal routine and feel like I’m myself again. If you absolutely cannot take the day off after vacation, try to slow-roll your work day. It’s easier said than done, but it will help.
3. When you’re in vacation mode, don’t stray too far from your routine.
This tips is probably the most important one. Staying as close to your routine will help you get out of vacation mode faster. Even though you might have gone to some far off land and eaten some outlandish food, try to get as close to it as possible. If you do, you’ll feel like the only thing that changed was your location.
These are my tips, but I bet you have some of your own. Share them with me so I can get out of vacation mode even faster than before.
