No More Excuses

UPDATED 02/24/2025

“Excuses are like buttholes, everyone has one.” Ever heard that saying? It’s true and some of us even have more than one. But that’s why you need to start having no more excuses.

Lately, I’ve been realizing that there are some things I just cannot accomplish. Things like working out at 6:00 am every morning or becoming a pilot in 3 months. One of those things is actually something I can do but it’s a challenge. And no, it’s not becoming a pilot. For awhile now, I’ve been paying attention and really trying to figure out why everything seems like it’s a challenge. I noticed one major factor-brain fog.

Despite being engulfed in this deep, dark, dense fog, I’ve been trying to push forward. Today, on my drive home, I heard a voice scream “NO MORE EXCUSES!” At first, I thought I was losing my mind and thought the person in the car beside me was yelling at me. Then, I told myself that I wasn’t making excuses. And then, I realized it was my inner knowing and it was right. I have excuses and I’ve been the one allowing my brain to believe them.

Here are a few that pop into my head often:

“I can’t wake up at 6:00 am to workout, I’m too tired.”
“Meal prepping each week is exhausting since me and my husband eat differently.”
“There is zero time for me, I have way too many obligations.”

After hearing that voice, I realize that it’s been me putting myself into that fog. I’ve been the one stopping myself from getting things accomplished. The only one holding myself back is me. So I had an idea and decided to try flipping those statements:

“I don’t want to wake up at 6:00 am to workout, I feel better when I get enough sleep.”
“Meal prepping doesn’t have to be exhausting if I find meals that we’ll both like.”
“Instead of waiting to have time for me, I’m going to make time for me.”

Now, all I have to do is listen to the voice, allow the Universe to help guide me in changing the statement, and stop allowing myself to block the path in front of me. Turning my excuses into new pathways has changed the narrative of my life and you can do it too!
