When I first wrote this post, I loved Meal Prep Sundays! On Sundays, we would cook. Or at least prepare food for the week. Each Sunday may look different, but the end result is the same. We have healthy snacks and meals ready to go for the week. One of the meals that we love the most is Kick ‘n Chili! Although I don’t do this anymore, I want to give you some reasons why you may want to start Meal Prep Sundays in your house.
First and foremost, it takes away all the stress of figuring out what to eat every night. By taking a little bit of time to plan and write out a menu the week before, you’ll eliminate the dread of having to figure out dinner every night. You’ll already know what you’ll be eating to the decision is already made. I would do my meal planning on Wednesday and my shopping on Friday. By spacing out the actions, it was less stressful and it would actually be something fun to do.
Secondly, by planning your meals, you get to experiment with new recipes. You can even challenge yourself to try at least one new recipe each week. This will help you experiment with new foods and flavors and see what your family prefers. You may even find a few of your favorite recipes that you want repeat regularly.
Lastly, you’ll create a habit and may even find you love to cook. Before I started meal planning, I was the last person you thought would cook. I always felt like it was a chore. After starting to meal plan, I found a creative outlet that I never knew I had. Today, my husband does the cooking. I still find it fun to try new recipes, though.
Now, Meal Prep Sundays look a little different. Instead of choosing our meals on Wednesday and shopping on Friday, we just open our HelloFresh app and choose our meals. We’re receive three meals per week and are typically weeks ahead. Even though we’re doing things a little different, our meals are still healthy, fresh, and delicious. Our favorite meal from them is the Firecracker Meatballs. They are oh so good. Use my link and you’ll receive a FREE box!
