Ever feel like something in the air has shifted, but you can’t quite put your finger on it? That’s exactly what happened this past week. The Lion’s Gate Portal (Yep, that’s a real thing!) peaked on August 8th, bringing in a surge of energy that had a lot of us feeling restless, emotional, or super inspired. That’s why I’m breaking down how I’ve been navigating it and a 5-step ritual you can try to reset and ride the wave with more intention.
If you have no clue what the Lion’s Gate Portal is, let me fill you in. The short answer is, it’s a spiritual and energetic event that happens every year. While I’m not a metaphysical guru, I do believe that when the stars align, it can be a sign for us to make changes in our lives. This time, a portal opened that increased energy everywhere. Think of it like a WiFi connection that will never go out. It’s incredibly strong and destined to make sure everything connects, just so.
If you felt some of this energy shift last week, you might have
- Felt called to be more open and follow your ideas, or more restless and impatient with yourself and others
- Had super vivid dreams or moments of clarity about what is really important to you and only you
- Saw signs that told you to go in the direction of your calling and release things that aren’t serving you
- Emotional fatigue and massive mood swings, which made you feel extra sensitive to the people around you
Does any of this make sense or sound right to you?
Last week was my first week back from Nashville. I was diving head-first back into work, and I felt huge changes in my emotions and my environment. The biggest problem I was facing was, I was mentally exhausted and couldn’t take time to rest because I had a laundry list of work to do. I was starting a new website remodel project, I had to create and schedule social media posts (For the only 2 clients I do this for!), and I needed to play catch-up on my work. To say that it was an emotional rollercoaster of a week would be an understatement. I didn’t sleep well, and my husband even had to ask me a few times, “Are you ok?” because one minute I was crying watching a Hamilton Reel on IG and the next I was laughing at the face my dog was giving me.
But then I realized something. The Lion’s Gate Portal is there for a reason. These spiritual energy shifts we experience are meant to make us feel something and choose a better path for our lives. So, I decided to ride the waves I was experiencing, and this week, I’m taking time to reset. This is exactly what I’m recommending for you too, especially if you’re still feeling it. Here’s how to do it:
- Look back at your week. Block some time off on your calendar to do some journaling. Write down 3 things that felt heightened energetically for you. Maybe it was a conversation with your spouse, or the request from so many others for help when you’re drowning. Whatever comes to mind first, write it down.
- Look for a theme. Do you see any common threads? Are there any similarities among the things you wrote down? See if there is because that might mean something.
- Get rid of what’s heavy. Now it’s time to say goodbye to the things that burden you. Think about what you wrote down first. Did anything not feel right? On a clean piece of paper, write down 1-2 things you experienced that you no longer align with. Then, burn that paper or tear it to shreds so you say goodbye for good.
- Declare what’s next. What’s next? Only you can decide that for yourself. On the same page you wrote about your heightened energy, write down your bold intention on a sticky note and put it somewhere you’re going to see every day.
- Choose your North Star. Pick one action you can do this week that will help take you forward with intention.
Doing this exercise will help you keep your energy flowing and that momentum going. You’re still going to be feeling that wave, but you’ll be on the tail end, and doing this will help you level out. And please know, we are meant to go through these energetic shifts. They are intended to lead us where to go in life so stay open to these shifts no matter how challenging they are.
I’d love to hear about your experience with this exercise. Share what came up for you and what your intention is for moving forward.
