One of the things that I’ve always heard is practicing personal development. I never really thought I needed it but have learned that in order to grow, both inside and out, personal development is a MUST!
What is personal development?
It’s any action you take to work on improving the current state of YOU. Basically, it’s improving yourself through the implementation of the things you read, the tips you see in videos and using the words brought to you by great leaders in their podcasts.
The topics involved in personal development range from healthy relationships, taking care of yourself, setting goals, paying off debt, building a business…the list goes on!
How do you start practicing personal development?
Start simple. Zig Ziglar is one of the great personal development speakers and man, his words have been so incredibly moving! He simplifies things in a way that just makes sense. But he’s not the only one with powerful words. You can listen to podcasts by any leader in the personal development space and you will realize how simple it is.
Where do you get resources for personal development?
You can access information for personal development growth in multiple ways. The medium you chose is up to you! Podcasts, books, videos, articles… My personal favorites are books [so I can highlight and write in the margins] and podcasts [which I listen to on my car rides].
Podcasts are great because you’ll never get bored. There’s always a different topic, the host may change from time to time and some shows even have special guests. Check out the Rise Together Podcast, The Chris Hogan Show or just search personal development in the podcast app you use. Shoot for listening to at least one a day and you’ll get your daily dose of positivity!
Books can be obtained from your local library or bookstore. A few books I would recommend are Start With Why by Simon Sinek, The Happiness Project by Gretchen Rubin and The Universe Has Your Back by Gabby Bernstein. These books are easy reads, teach you how to live with purpose, find out how to be happy and trust the power of faith. And there’s plenty more where this came from…
Do you practice personal development?
If you do, I want to hear from you! What’s a podcast or book that you’ve listened to or read recently that you just loved? Add a comment. I’d love to hear what you’re doing to grow.
