A New Way to Think
You must learn a new way to think before you can muster a new way to be. – Marianne Williamson
When I read this quote, it got me thinking… In order for us to make our lives better, we need to find out who we really are. And on top of that, we must change our mindset and find a new way to think.
When I grew up, I used to always consider myself a “realist”. I was never a “glass half empty” or “glass half full” kind of person. But what if you are one of those? If you have a “glass half empty” outlook, your whole mindset is pessimistic. You will probably always think something is wrong or is going to go wrong. Negativity will always be surrounding you and you’ll think that things just won’t go your way. My realist way of thinking kind of got me stuck here.
When I was young, I went through a major depression and it was mainly because of my way of thinking. It took me a very (VERY!) long time to realize that I was the one making my life the way it was. One I finally realized there was a new way to think, I become a “glass half full” kind of person. Today, I see things more in a positive light. Realizing the world is my oyster and I can take from it what I choose was a major revelation. Now that I have this mindset, I want to give back. I want to help you see life this way too. Granted, I still have moments when things aren’t going great. Instead of getting sad or angry, I figure out how to move past it.
What this quote should you help you realize is that if you want anything in life, you need a new way to think. You have to be the one to choose to not allow negativity into your life. I say don’t let it in and don’t let it ruin your life either! Believe me when I say, one tough moment does not have to destroy your whole day.
So I’m giving you a challenge. Your first step toward a better life is this. Surround yourself with people that support you and help you see the beauty around you. And the beauty that IS you! These people will end up being your lifers, your tribe, and you never want to let them go. I have a few people in my life like this and I would be lost without them. Go find your tribe and keep them sacred.
