Why I Took a Hiatus [from the Podcast]

UDPATED 06/27/2025

My last podcast was on April 20th and man, it’s been awhile. I took a hiatus from the podcast, from life coaching and from a heck of a lot of things and I’m so glad I did. The funny part is, the last podcast I published was titled Summer Stress. It’s funny because at the time, I had no idea how stressed I really was. To be honest, I missed recording, writing, coming up with show topics and sharing and helping you.

Why I took a hiatus…

The truth is, sometimes you just need a break. I was at a point in my life where I was super busy, I was trying to figure out my purpose, I had a friend that needed some support, I felt like I was working 24/7 and my mental health was declining. It was bad. Like real bad.

So I had a decision to make. Do I keep going the way I was and burn myself out beyond recognition or do I take a hiatus? It was a hard decision and I did not want to make it. Trust me, I’m not the type of person to give up easily. But a decision had to be made. Instead of stopping, I took a break from the easiest thing I had on my plate – the podcast.

What I did during my hiatus…

During the time I was away from the podcast, I had a lot more free time. For a bit, I went with the flow. If you’re a Type A or an Enneagram 1, you know that’s not the norm. It felt weird, strange and like I wasn’t living my own life. However, I knew that trying to just live life and not worry so much was what I needed.

The time I was away was hard. Although I had more time, I wasn’t feeling like myself. I could tell I was in a season of exploration because my life coaching business was on the outs (I wasn’t really loving it anymore) and I was trying to find ways to make an additional income that involved what I loved to do (admin work). Because I had Marie Forleo in the back of my mind, I just started doing what I knew filled my cup – virtual assistant services. And as of when this post was published, I’m still doing them.

I even thought long and hard about this podcast. Did I want to keep doing it? Did I want to give up on a year’s worth of work and stop doing it? Because I missed it so much, I didn’t want to give up on it. I just knew I had to give myself time. So that’s what I did.

What’s the plan for the podcast?

So now that the hiatus is over, what’s the plan for the podcast? I still plan on putting out weekly episodes, just like before, on Wednesdays. I’m still going to focus on the topics that I think my audience needs – a focus on mental wellness, ways to organize your life and tips and tricks to help you live a more happy, healthy life. Can you do me a favor, though?

Can you click this link and give me a bit of feedback? It’s a quick survey that asks you want YOU want to hear. It will help me craft episodes, figure out if we should have guests on the show and give you a chance to share your thoughts. I love doing the podcast and I want to make it something YOU love too.
