about jenn mullen
It’s been a journey…
I’m a suicide attempt survivor, an Enneagram 1w9, an asthmatic living with ADHD and anxiety and was basically born blind in one eye.
The good news is, none of that has stopped me!
I spent most of my time learning.
Like most, I went to school and got my degree. Two in my case! I joined the workforce right out of college and excelled in the corporate world. I moved up the ladder quickly and on my way up, I noticed something – quantity was way more important than quality.
Most days, I spent feeling frustrated and overwhelmed. I was working my tail off in a role that everyone said would pay off. Yet, it was unfulfilling and I was under appreciated. Each day, I would see areas of improvement and would offer feedback or make recommendations. But my advice was unwelcome and unheard. Quickly it became obvious to me that corporate wasn’t for me. Sadly, leaving took over a decade.
After more than a decade in the corporate world, I left and shocked everyone!
What came next was unexpected.
When I left the corporate world, I took a significant pay cut and my role was basically downsized to entry level. I went to work for a boutique small business and ended up the happiest I had been in a very long time.
I brought the skills I learned throughout the years with me and used them to help me become a Jill-of-All-Trades. Being able to fulfill the role of Executive Admin came easy but it wasn’t the only “hat” I would wear. My degrees in Psychology and Business Administration and my experience as a trainer and data analyst helped me significantly. This is where I kicked my learning into overdrive and learned what I really wanted for my life… And what I didn’t.
In comes Jenn Mullen, the Virtual Assistant.
After a year, I had the EA role down pat. I had organized the business, created systems when there weren’t any, could manage the office, and help them with their marketing and event planning. So I got an inkling…
What if I blended all my strengths together and tried to do something on my own? I used my organization skills, like planning and time management, my creative skills, like copywriting and graphic design, and my coaching skills and created The Mindful Virtual Assistant. For years, I ran my business on the side, helping clients with whatever tasks they needed that I could handle. And I LOVED it!
Today, I run my business full time and help clients create and organize their systems, plan and strategize their social media content and use my copywriting skills to my clients’ businesses. And I’m proud to say, it is a heart-centered business. Not only do I care about my clients’ businesses, I care about them too.
As a business owner, I realize that we all have lives outside of our business. Creating space for a balance between life and business is one of my core values. I realize that we all love what we do, and believe that in order to do it well, we need to be mindful about how we do it. My work with clients starts here – increasing efficiency so you don’t have to work 24/7.
